"VESSEL" contains Beatrice Warde's Crystal Goblet, Jan Tschicold's Belief and Reality and Dan Friedman's Theory and Typography. These essays are all about typography and I interpreted typography as a vessel containing a contents. As the title implies, this book includes the various images of potteries besides the essays. According to the meaning of each essay, three types of potteries are displayed with essays.

The bottom layer of the cover is the sandpaper and it represents ceramics as a connotation of the typography. Ceramics are usually appreciated by their color or shape, however, without good ingredients (which is soil), ceramic can not be created. Likewise, typography is completed not by adding beautiful font or color but following basic principles of typography. Also, three articles are divided by the tracing paper. It implies that three theories of the typography are connected and theories are influenced by the history.
Ch1. <Crystal Goblet> by Beatrice Warde
Warde argues that printing (typography) should be invisible because the content is more essential. As her idea, Joseon white porcelain (Baekja) was considered to be beautiful and perfect when the porcelain harmonize with other objects.
Ch 2. <Belief and Reality> by Jan Tschicold
Tschicold are on the edge of traditional typography and new typography and I interpreted this is his own unique style. Potters' idiosyncrasy are mostly found from their teapot. Teapot can function when it has symmetrical shape and perfect proportion. Also, potters make their signature on spout or handle while throwing a piece.
Ch 3. <Theory and Typography> by Dan Friedman
Friedman has a positive view of experimental design. When it comes to experimental design by cutting edge technology, he wants to experiment of acceptable tolerance levels of the new design. To display experimental design, I selected ceramic vases not made by throwing but new technology like a 3d printing.
